Studio Update: Sewing Frenzy

Last week I printed the tote bags and was hoping to get a start on sewing. I was feeling really motivated to sew this week so I got farther than I was anticipating. I am extra relieved that I have finished securing all of the straps because that is my least favorite part of the process. I am planning to work on the top hems later this afternoon.

This week was all about sewing experimentation. I've had major sewing block for a couple of months now, but I was able to break through that this week. I spent a lot of my time making abstract felt patches. I am still trying to decide how to finish them, but other than that I am happy with the results. I will post an in depth video on the process tomorrow.

I also experimented with a quilting technique called paper piecing. I used this pattern from Lillyella Stitchery. I also followed this tutorial from Crafsty while constructing the block. For the most part, this technique was easier than I was expecting. My final product is a little messy, but I'm happy with it regardless. I am planning on practicing on a few more patterns before learning to draft the patterns myself.
